It is with great sadness we received news of the passing of Carrol King on August 31st
A member of the club since childhood Carrol played a pivotal role in rescuing the club at the turn of the century.
Carrol together with her husband Bob was one if not the most important persons in our recent history.
Carrol cajoled and encouraged participation of many people bringing the club back to the place we now enjoy.
Indeed not content with making Cricket teas, running the bar, hosting functions, cleaning the club and organising our successful darts teams. Carrol pressed the council, breweries and suppliers to support the growth of the club.
The Members bar was in no small part down to her contacts and liaison with the council, working with the GMC of the time up until the time Carrol and family moved to the South Coast.
A warm welcome and happy personality is how I shall remember Carrol, such a great person to be in the company of.
The club recognised Carrol’s efforts and awarded her Honorary Life Membership, quite rightly so.
We offer our sincere condolences to all of her family, she will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
May she rest in peace with our eternal gratitude.
