RIP Derrick Pearce 03 July 1949 to 03 November 2021

It is with great sadness we have received news of the passing of our former Chairman Derrick Pearce

A popular member of the Hayes community and having run his own business, the club were fortunate enough to be a big part of his life at the beginning of this century

Derrick was asked to assist with the rebuild of Hayes Cricket club as it struggled badly at the end of the 1990’s

With his business connections and experience Derrick was generous in donating funds to keep the club alive whilst working with others to turn our fortunes around.

It is right to say that without Derrick’s support we may not have our club today

During his tenure as Chairman the club were able to rebuild the club, our playing membership returned to its prior level of four Saturday XI’s within the Thames Valley League, New net facilities were laid, the pavilion was refurbished throughout, and he oversaw the addition of the members bar.

Social Club membership was also at its highest level in years, it was clear to see just how far the club had come under his guidance.

From my perspective Derrick was a quiet person publicly, who treasured his family and life.

You appreciated he had a wonderful sense of humour and was an enjoyable person to be in the company of.

Due to ill health Derrick stood down as Chairman in 2014 initially taking the position of Club President

The club recognised Derrick’s efforts and awarded him Honorary Life Membership.

We offer our sincere condolences to his family; Derrick will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.

May he rest in peace with our eternal gratitude.
